| dc.description | The Aysén Region is undergoing major territorial changes. Tourism-driven economies become development drivers, showing the country and the rest of the world how its capital can be based on natural landscape resources. With 50% of its surface area declared protected, a specific focus is placed on selected urban centers. Coyhaique and Cochrane are two examples. Both are located within protected natural areas and currently face large demographic pressures, both permanent and transient. This article addresses issues dealing with the extent to which Aysén's geographical context predetermines the location of its urban area; the consistency of these areas with the setting and how a city should be when it is located in such a meaningful natural and environmental territory, where nature and its territorial values are considered the basis for future development. | en-US |
| dc.description | La región de Aysén está sufriendo importantes transformaciones territoriales. El desarrollo de economías relacionadas al turismo aparecen como motores que empujan al desarrollo, mostrando al país y al mundo como una región donde el capital son los recursos paisajísticos naturales. Con el 50% de la superficie declarada área protegida, algunos núcleos urbanos aparecen como nuevos focos de interés. Coyhaique y Cochrane son ejemplos de esta dinámica. Ambas tramas están emplazadas en entornos naturales protegidos, y hoy enfrentan grandes presiones demográficas permanentes y estacionarias. Este artículo pretende responder a preguntas sobre la medida en que el contexto geográfico de Aysén predetermina el emplazamiento de su medio urbano, si las tramas constituyen un valor compatible con el lugar y cómo debe ser una ciudad cuando está emplazada en un territorio natural y medio ambiental tan significativo, donde esa naturaleza y sus valores territoriales se proponen como base de un futuro desarrollo. | es-ES |
