| dc.description | This article’s intention is to describe the ongoing debate created by the subject of “Civic Education” (“Educación para la Ciudadanía”). This subject, introduced by the Organic Act of Education (Ley Orgánica de Educación), has aroused great concern in different sectors of Spanish society, mainly because of doubts related to the danger that it may constitute to the survival of religion in schools. For this reason, a large amount of families has expressed a conscientious objection to resist that their children receive this course of study. Ultimately, the principal problems that the introduction of this subject has faced will be exposed, as well as the way in which the Spanish Courts, particularly the Supreme Court (Tribunal Supremo), have attempted to resolve them. | en-US |
| dc.description | La intención de este artículo no es sino describir la situación actual del debate generado por la disciplina de “Educación para la Ciudadanía”. Esta asignatura, que ha sido introducida por la vigente Ley Orgánica de Educación, ha ocasionado una gran preocupación en diversos sectores de la sociedad española, principalmente por las dudas relativas al peligro que puede representar para la supervivencia de la religión en los colegios. Por esta razón un número elevado de familias han planteado la objeción de conciencia a que sus hijos la reciban. En definitiva, se expondrán cuáles son los principales problemas que ha conllevado la implantación de esta materia, así como la forma en que los tribunales de justicia de España –y en especial el Tribunal Supremo– han intentado dar solución a los mismos. | es-ES |
