Abstract: This article studies the role of the reader’s history in the Origenian discussion of the nature of Scripture according to Prin. IV, 1. In other words, it analyses the relevance of post-Biblical history in clarifying the nature of the biblical text. According to Origen, the historical events foretold by Jesus, which have recently been verified, such as the expansion and persecution of Christianity, show Jesus of Nazareth’s divine nature. In turn, the divinity of Jesus shows that the prophecies that had announced him are inspired (OT) and that the words of Jesus are divine (NT). Key Words: Origen, Biblical interpretation, history, signs of the times.Resumen: El presente artículo estudia la función de la historia del lector en la argumentación origeniana acerca de la naturaleza de la Escritura según Prin. IV, 1. Es decir, analiza la relevancia de la historia post-bíblica en la clarificación de la naturaleza del texto bíblico. Según Orígenes, los acontecimientos históricos predichos por Jesús, que se han verificado recientemente, como la difusión y la persecución del cristianismo, muestran el carácter divino de Jesús de Nazaret. A su vez, la divinidad de Jesús muestra que las profecías que lo habían anunciado son inspiradas (AT) y que las palabras de Jesús son divinas (NT).
