Abstract
Extensive research by many investigators with archeologically recovered human remains in the Americas indicates pre-Columbian temporal patterns of increased morbidity in many areas. Although dietary factors may also be involved, much of this pattern can be explained by temporal shifts in population density and settlement pattern.
