The article analyzes the evolution of the Broad Front in Uruguay from its creation to its recent electoral defeat. It identifies the economic, social and political context in which it emerged, describes the main stages of its development as a party and the characteristics of its particular internal conception and organization, as well as the evolution of its political position. It describes some of the main public policies that it developed in the government and their impacts. Finally, he wonders about the possible causes that explain the loss of the elections in 2019 and hypothesizes about the challenges he faces in the future.El artículo analiza la evolución del Frente Amplio en Uruguay desde su creación hasta su reciente derrota electoral. Identifica el contexto económico, social y político en que surgió, describe las principales etapas de su desarrollo como partido y las características de su particular concepción y organización interna, así como la evolución de su posicionamiento político. Describe algunas de las principales políticas públicas que desarrolló en el gobierno y sus impactos. Finalmente, se interroga sobre las posibles causas que explican la pérdida de las elecciones en 2019 e hipotetiza sobre los desafíos que enfrenta hacia el futuro.
