With the purpos e of demonstratin g hybridization betwee n Nothofagus dombey i (Mirb.) Oerst. and Nothofagus betuloide s (Mirb.) Oerst. and betwee n N. dombey i and Nothofagus nitida (Phil.) Krasser, material was collected from trees of the supposed parent trees and th e hybrid s in Antillanca and Anticur a sections of the Puyehu e Nationa l Park. In order to analyz e and prove hybridization between N. dombey i and N. betuloides the hybrid index, enhance d by a statistic test, was used togethe r with a pictorialized scatter diagram and chromatographi c analysis with the phenoli c compound s of the leaves. For analyzing hybridization between N. dombeyi and N. nitida only the chromatographi c metho d was used because only youn g hybrid trees withou t flowers and fruits were found. Results clearly demonstrat e hybridization between N. dombey i and N. betuloides and suggest that the hybrid trees found, belong to the firts generation originated from a crossing between two species. The chromatographic analysis performed for N dombeyi x N. nitida also shows the hybri d conditions of the studied trees; the sites wher e these hybrids were found permit advancing the hypothesis tha t hybridization occurs unde r conditions wher e disturbanc e has determined a hybrid habitat.Con el objetivo de demostra r la hibridación producida entr e Nothofagus dombey i (Mirb.) Oesrts. y Nothofagus betuloide s (Mirb.) Oerst. y entr e N. dombey i y N o ­ thofagus nitida (Phil.) Krasser, se recolectaro n muestra s de diferentes árboles de supuestos padre s de híbrido s ubicados en los sectores Antillanc a y Anticur a en el Parque Naciona l Puyehue . Para analizar y comproba r la posible hibridación entr e N. dombey i y N. betuloide s se utilizó el índice de hibridación corroborad o por un análisis estadístico, el diagrama pictórico de dispersión y un análisis cromatográfico de compuesto s fenólicos de las hojas. Para analizar la hibridación entr e N. dombey i y N. nitida se emple ó el métod o cromato ­ gráfico porqu e sólo se encontraro n supuestos híbridos jóvenes, sin flores ni frutos. Los métodos empleados confir man la hibridación entr e N. dombey i y N. betuloides y sugieren que los híbrido s encontrados pertenece n a la primera generación product o de un cruzamient o entr e 2 especies. El análisis cromatográfico realizado para N. dombey i x N. nitida demuestr a tambié n la condición de híbridos de los ejemplares analizados; las áreas dond e se encuentra n estos híbrido s permiten adelantar la hipótesis de que la hibridación se desarrolla bajo condicione s de alteración que determinan un habitat híbrido .
