| dc.description | Pinus radiata D. Don (Monterrey Pine) has shown to be a well adapted introduced forest species at sites with soils which have suffered increased degradation due to agricultural practices. The growth of this pine however., has been determined to be closely linked to soil fertility. Future primary production is also dependent on this factor. The advanced knowledge refered to the relationship between growth indexes and soil characteristics give valuable information which permits to improve the forest management of this species. It also constitutes basic information to set up new approaches for scientific reseanch on this matter. | en-US |
| dc.description | Pinus radiata D. Don es una especie introducida que demostró gran éxito de adaptación a sitios cuyos suelos habían sufrido deterioro grave por el uso agrícola. Sin embargo, se ha podido determinar que el desarrollo de la especie está estrechamente relacionado con la fertilidad del suelo. También las perspectivas de producción primaria futura están definidas por ella. Los avances del conocimiento sobre asociación entre índices de crecimiento de la especie y las características del suelo entregan información valiosa que permite perfeccionar el manejo de las plantaciones y, además, constituyen una adecuada base para precisar los caminos que debe seguir la investigación científica en la materia. | es-ES |
