In Cicero's Hortensius, Augustine found an undeniable call to search for the truth through philosophy, marking the beginning of his intellectual path. However, this journey wasn't free from trouble, such as facing the 'false' truth of the Manichaeans, or the Academic skepticism, to name a few. In view of its important connection with the truth, this work intends to show the relation of the young, and newly converted, Augustine with the skepticism of the New Academy and, therefore, with the truth in the light of his first work Contra Academicos, which, we will see, it is less adverse than might be supposed.En el Hortensio de Cicerón, Agustín se encuentra con un llamado innegablea buscar la verdad a través de la filosofía marcando con esto el iniciode su camino intelectual. Esta travesía, sin embargo, no estuvo exenta deproblemas como enfrentarse a la “falsa” verdad de los maniqueos o elescepticismo de los académicos, por nombrar algunos. En vistas de su importanteconexión con la verdad, este trabajo pretende mostrar la relación del joven, y recién converso, Agustín con el escepticismo de la Nueva Academia y, por consiguiente, con la verdad a la luz de su primera obra Contra Academicos, la cual, veremos, es mucho menos adversa de lo que podría suponerse.
