dc.description	The purpose of this work is to show how Europe and America had excellent levels of education in the humanities studies until the 60s. At this historical point such tradition was broken. The educational point of view changes the focus from a curriculum centred in knowledge, cognitive development and morality to a growing sociological and utilitarian tendency of education, which is considered an instrument at the service of political interests. The consequences of this process are the current educational crisis in the Western World.	en-US
dc.description	El objetivo de este trabajo es mostrar cómo la tradición educativa de Europa y Amér ica tuvo niveles de excelencia en estudios humanísticos hasta aproximadamente los años sesenta. En este momento histórico se produce una inflexión en su desarrollo, que consiste en un cambio de perspectiva, desde una visión formativa del hombre centrada en el cultivo de los conocimientos y el desarrollo cognitivo y moral de la persona hacia una tendencia cada vez más sociologista y utilitarista de la educación, que concibe a ésta como un instrumento al servicio de los intereses políticos. Las consecuencias mediatas de este proceso se concretizan en la actual crisis educativa de Occidente. Palabras clave:	es-ES
