En este artículo queremos mostrar que para Boecio y San Agustín, la libertad humana y la presciencia divina son compatibles entre sí. Para probarlo en primer lugar refutaremos las teorías de los astrónomos y de los filósofos deterministas, utilizando los argumentos del Libro V de la Ciudad de Dios de San Agustín. Luego, estableceremos que desde el punto de vista de la teoría del conocimiento ambos conceptos no son contradictorios. En la segunda parte del trabajo contrastaremos las nociones de libertad de ambos pensadores, destacando en cada una su elemento distintivo; en el caso de Boecio, la libertad humana tiene como base el conocimiento racional, en cambio, en san Agustín el punto de partidaes la voluntad. En la conclusión mostraremos que estas dos líneas de investigación son antecedentes de la teoría del acto voluntario de santo Tomás de Aquino.In this article, we would like to show that for Boethius and Saint Augustine Aquinas, human freedom and divine prescience are compatible between them. To demonstrate this, we will refute the deterministic philosophers and astrological theories by using the arguments from Saint Augustine's The City of God (Book V). We will also establish that both terms are not contradictory if they are taken from the point of view of the knowledge theory. In the second part of this article, we will contrast the notions of freedom of Boethius and Saint Augustine, by highlighting their distinctive feature; as to Boethius, human freedom is supported on the rational knowledge, and for Saint Augustine the starting point is human will. In the conclusion, we suggest that both positions, that of Boethius and this of Saint Augustine, are precedents of the voluntary act theory by Saint Thomas Aquinas.
