dc.descriptionPhyllotis limatus is an inhabitant of the Atacama Desert, where it is distributed in arid costs and Pacific Andean slopes, reaching 4.000 meters. With the implementation of a study of wildlife in a Chilean Prepuna area, we capture and mark small mammals (marking with microchip). From these records, we studied the movement and density of the specie in a high semidesert environment. Movements registered were able to record up to 2.5 km in a relocated individual and 1.2 km in a resident individual. Similarly, we note that the densities of Phyllotis in these extreme environments are low and probably this is related to the environmental cost in these ecosystems.en-US
dc.descriptionPhyllotis limatus es un habitante del desierto de Atacama, donde se distribuye en las costas áridas y pendientes andinas del Pacífico, alcanzando hasta los 4.000 msnm. Con motivo de un estudio de manejo de fauna en la prepuna chilena, tuvimos la oportunidad de capturar y marcar micromamíferos. A partir de este seguimiento, estudiamos la densidad y desplazamiento de la especie en un ambiente desértico de altura. Pudimos registrar desplazamientos que alcanzaron hasta 2,5 km en un individuo relocalizado y 1,2 km en un individuo residente. Del mismo modo, podemos señalar que las densidades de Phyllotis en estos ambientes extremos son bajas, y ello se relaciona con las restricciones ambientales propias de estos ecosistemas.es-ES
