The novel Papa or the diary of Alicia Mir (1934), by Vicente Huidobro, is a fictional reflection on the role that the poet expected woman to fulfill within his proj- ect of cultural modernization. We see this mainly in the figure of Alicia, the girl who writes and thinks about the divorce of her parents, symbol of the problematic relation- ship between the oligarchy (represented by the mother) and the projects of cultural transformation of the avant-garde (represented by the father). This intellectual and thinking girl is the artistic projection of a series of women who were part of the life of Huidobro, and, incidentally, a rhetorical resource through which Huidobro positioned itself favorably with respect to the female illustration, attributing to the woman a function of mediation between the two universes in conflict, that is, a political role to the ancient marian figure of the songs of Altazor.La novela Papá o el diario de Alicia Mir (1934), de Vicente Huidobro, es una reflexión ficcional respecto del papel que el poeta esperaba que la mujer cumpliese dentro de su proyecto de modernización cultural. Vemos esto principalmente en la figura de Alicia, la niña que escribe y piensa el divorcio de sus padres, símbolo de la relación problemática que se ha instaurado entre la oligarquía (representada por la madre) y los proyectos de transformación cultural de la vanguardia (representados por el padre). Esa niña intelectual y pensante es la proyección artística de varias mujeres que forma- ron parte de la vida de Huidobro, y, de paso, un recurso retórico en el que Huidobro se posicionó de manera favorable respecto de la ilustración femenina, atribuyendo a la mujer una función de mediación entre los dos universos en conflicto, es decir, un papel político a la antigua figura mariana de los cantos de Altazor.
