Los altares portátiles tras la expulsión de la Compañía de Jesús en el Río de la Plata y Chile (1780-1820): una historia de agencias y resignificaciones

dc.descriptionStarting from the diverse uses and assigned functions of the portable altars that are analyzed in private correspondences between philo-Jesuit agents and requests to the Directorate of the State of Buenos Aires, this article investigates a number of strategies and exchanges deployed by those agents after the expulsion of the Society of Jesus to promote the devotion to the order and to maintain the practices of evangelization in territories and remote regions like the Araucania and the Patagonia at the beginnings of the nineteenth century. This article weaves together questions from history, art history and the anthropology of images to respond to the ways in which portable altars were effective means for the evangelization in apostolic missions whose main characteristic was the autonomy of its missionariesen-US
dc.descriptionA partir de los diversos usos y funciones asignados a los altares portátiles que se analizan en correspondencias privadas entre agentes filo-jesuitas y solicitudes al directorio del Estado de Buenos Aires, este artículo investiga sobre un número de estrategias e intercambios desplegados por dichos agentes tras la expulsión de la Compañía de Jesús para promover los cultos de la orden y perdurar las prácticas de evangelización hacia territorios de campaña y regiones remotas como la Araucanía y la Patagonia a comienzos del siglo xix. Este trabajo entrelaza interrogantes desde la historia, la historia del arte y la antropología de la imagen para responder a los modos por los cuales altares portátiles resultaron medios efectivos para la evangelización en empresas apostólicas cuya principal característica fue la autonomía de sus misioneros.es-ES
