dc.descriptionThis article analyzes the cultural policies regarding free time in Chile during the 1930s. It argues that the progressive reduction of the working hours opened the debate about the promotion of recreational activities for workers, international debates in which many diverse interests converged from intellectuals, public functionaries, businessmen and workers. In particular it addresses the actions promoted by the State regarding the Department of Cultural Affairs created in 1932 and other institutions of its type.en-US
dc.descriptionEste artículo analiza las políticas culturales sobre el tiempo libre en Chile durante la década de 1930. Se señala que la progresiva reducción de la jornada de trabajo abrió el debate sobre la promoción de instancias de recreación para los trabajadores, discusiones internacionales en que confluyeron intereses muy diversos de intelectuales, funcionarios públicos, empresarios y trabajadores. Se abordan en particular las acciones promovidas por el Estado en torno al Departamento de Extensión Cultural creado en 1932 y otras instituciones de su tipo.es-ES
