dc.descriptionThis article examines a selection of celebrations and ceremonies forming part of liberal political culture and, which enlivened life for the inhabitants of Lima between 1812 and 1813, the pinnacle of Cadiz liberalism. It analyzes the ritual forms of production, staging, and appropriation of new vocabularies, values, and notions of authority on the part of diverse actors. It is based on the premise that ritual is the privileged channel through which such vocabulary, values, and notions are legitimized, making it a fi eld of ideological tension. The celebrations and ceremonies appear as pedagogical apparatuses promoted principally by the elite, combining traditional with innovative resources. In this moment of monarchical crisis and reform they acquire new meanings and attempt to be models of experience, identity and collective memory. The article also demonstrates that these apparatuses are the object of differential appropriations and interpretations by the groups and individuals that participate in them in accordance with their own desires and interests.en-US
dc.descriptionEste trabajo selecciona un corpus de fi estas y ceremonias vinculadas con la cultura política liberal que animaron la vida de los habitantes de Lima en el bienio 1812- 1813, paroxismo del liberalismo gaditano, con el fi n de analizar las formas rituales de producción, escenifi cación y apropiación de nuevos vocabularios, valores y concepciones de autoridad por parte de diversos actores. Se parte de la premisa de que el ritual es el canal privilegiado mediante el cual se pretende legitimar –y por eso resulta un campo de tensiones ideológicas– dicho vocabulario, valores y concepciones. Las fiestas y ceremonias aparecen como dispositivos pedagógicos fomentados principalmente por las elites en los que se combinan recursos tradicionales y novedosos, adquieren en este momento de crisis y reforma de la monarquía nuevos sentidos y pretenden a la vez ser modeladores de la experiencia, identidad y memoria colectivas. También se comprueba que son objeto de apropiaciones e interpretaciones diferenciales por parte de los grupos y personas que participan en ellos de acuerdo a sus anhelos e intereses.es-ES
