| dc.description | Este artículo se ocupa de una necesidad básica del ser humano: su alimentación. Sobre la base de la fecunda prensa satírica, muestra cómo y qué comían los chilenos y chilenas del 1900, ya sea la elite como el pueblo. Junto con explorar los sabores y aromas de los platos más representativos, hay un acercamiento a la sociabilidad que se generó en torno a la comida y a un problema de larga data como es el alcoholismo. En ese sentido, se trata de una historia social de la alimentación que aporta indicios interesantessobre la sociedad urbana del Chile de la época.
