| dc.description | This article aims to understand the decisional procedures that occur during the ethical review of a research protocol, and to define how functions of ethics committees are carried out in society. To this end, members of committees in the metropolitan region of Chile were interviewed and were analyzed written sources corresponding to international documents on research ethics and national legislation as well. Our study suggests that organizations develop complex deliberative processes, in which the assessment of research risk has a central place. On the other hand, in the deployment of their functions, committees justify their risks for the environment, making possible the biomedical scientific research with human beings. | en-US |
| dc.description | El presente artículo tiene como objetivo comprender los procedimientos decisionales que ocurren durante la revisión ética de un protocolo de investigación y definir como se lleva a cabo la función de los comités éticos-científicos en la sociedad. Con este fin, se entrevistaron a los comités de la región metropolitana de Chile, además, se analizaron fuentes escritas correspondientes a los documentos internacionales en materia de ética de la investigación y la legislación nacional. Este estudio sugiere que estas organizaciones desarrollan procesos deliberativos complejos en donde la valoración del riesgo de la investigación tiene un lugar central, por otro lado, en el despliegue de su función, los comités hacen justificables los riesgos para el entorno, cuestión que vuelve viable la investigación científica biomédica con seres humanos. | es-ES |
