| dc.description | Academic studies related to death in the Roman world have focused on the impact they have had on the family, how many words are repeated in the epitaphs as well as the numerical record of the sepulchral inscriptions. The sense of feeling for the loss does not always find the same attention as these topics within the historical and epigraphic studies on death whereby frustration, pain and feel have remained as mere expressions and they have not been contextualized with the development itself of the Roman world. Epitaphs fulfill the task of pointing out the place and who occupies that grave, to keep respect for the deceased, to remember and to be part of its passage in eternity. The death of boys and girls in the Roman world can be understood as an unfair death (mors immatura), whence it should not come so soon, something that the epigraphs themselves tend to tell on several occasions, and those that are commemorated are presented with some characteristics for posterity.Keywords: memory, emotions, epitaphs, Roman world, children | en-US |
| dc.description | Los estudios académicos sobre la muerte en el mundo romano se han centrado en el impacto que estas produjeron en la familia, cuántas palabras se repiten en los epitafios, así como por el registro numérico de las inscripciones sepulcrales. El sentido del sentimiento por la pérdida no siempre encuentra la misma atención que estos tópicos dentro de los estudios históricos y epigráficos sobre la muerte, por lo cual la frustración, dolor y sentir han quedado como meras expresiones y no se han contextualizado con el propio desarrollo del mundo romano. Los epitafios cumplen el cometido de señalar el lugar y quien ocupa aquella morada, de guardar respeto por el difunto, hacer memoria y ser parte de su tránsito en la eternidad. La muerte de los niños y niñas en el mundo romano puede ser entendida como una muerte injusta (mors immatura), que no debía llegar tan pronto, cosa los propios epígrafes en varias ocasiones tienden a relatar, y aquellos que son conmemorados se presentan con algunas características para la posteridad.Palabras clave: memoria, emociones, epitafios, mundo romano, niños | es-ES |
