El presente artículo se construye a partir de dos experiencias investigativas sobre temáticas relacionadas con la dictadura militar de Pinochet, y que estuvieron marcadas por el silencio y la carencia de información; como límite infranqueable para la historiografía, han sido generalmente eludidas por los investigadores e investigadoras, quienes, frente a la inexistencia de material, han debido buscar en otras fuentes de información o releer el material existente desde otros puntos de vista. Bajo tal premisa, y siendo el silencio un elemento que posibilita una reflexión y transformación de la disciplina, la propuesta del presente trabajo es plantear, mediante la propia experiencia investigativa del autor, pistas y lineamientos desde donde afrontar el silencio como fuente para la historiografía, a fin de establecer mecanismos para comprenderlo e interpretarlo desde su propio contenido vedado.This article is built from two investigative experiences on topics related to the Pinochet dictatorship, marked by silence and the lack of information, which, as an insurmountable limit for historiography, have generally been eluded by researchers, who, in the absence of material, have had to search other sources of information or reread the existing one from another point of view. Under this premise, silence being an element that enables the reflection and transformation of the discipline, the proposal of this work is to suggest, through the author’s own investigative experience, clues and guidelines from which to confront silence as a source for historiography, in order to establish mechanisms to understand and interpret it from its own prohibited content.
