dc.descriptionIn 2018, the feminist movement paralyzed Chilean society by questioning patriarchy across all levels. This paper addresses the expressions of the movement through the visual and social representations that emerged from the demonstrators of the 2018 feminist student movement in Concepción-Chile. We focus on the case of three universities: Universidad Católica de la Santísima Concepción, Universidad del Bío Bío, and Universidad de Concepción. The main goal of the article is to make visible and describe visual and social representations generated and promoted by the feminist student movement, establishing relationships between the production of social significance present in the three cases of study. The methodology is mixed and divided in four stages: 1) Photographic record of more than 400 images of expressions present in the universities; 2) Classification of written and visual messages in content categories; 3) Descriptive inferential quantitative of analysis; 4) An analysis of qualitative content from a hermeneutical and semiotic perspective. Among the results, we highlight three predominant categories: Gender Violence; Sexist and sexist education; and Recognition of feminism. We conclude by saying that the movement seeks to reclaim inequalities and long-standing gender violence through narratives that dispute social significance and legitimacy to the hegemonic discourses of patriarchy.en-US
dc.descriptionEl 2018 el movimiento feminista paralizó la sociedad chilena cuestionando el patriarcado transversalmente. Este artículo recoge las expresiones del movimiento a través de las representaciones visuales y sociales, que emanan de las manifestantes del movimiento universitario feminista 2018 en Concepción- Chile. Se toma el caso de tres universidades: Universidad Católica de Concepción, Universidad del Bío Bío y Universidad de Concepción. El objetivo general es visibilizar y describir representaciones visuales y sociales generadas y promovidas por el movimiento feminista universitario, estableciendo relaciones entre la producción de significación social presente en las tres casas de estudio. La metodología es mixta, dividiéndose en cuatro etapas: 1) Catastro fotográfico de más de 400 imágenes de expresiones presentes en las universidades. 2) Clasificación de los mensajes escritos y visuales en categorías de contenido. 3) Análisis cuantitativo inferencial descriptivo. 4) Análisis de contenido cualitativo con una vocación hermenéutica y socio semiótica. Entre los resultados destacan tres categorías predominantes: Violencia de género; Educación sexista y machista; y Reconocimiento del feminismo. Concluyendo que el movimiento busca reivindicar desigualdades y violencia de género de larga data a través de narrativas que disputan la significación y legitimidad social con los discursos hegemónicos del patriarcado.es-ES
