To establish objective standards of proof for the guidance of judicial decisions is one of the greatest yearnings of legal epistemology. Among the proposals, one of the most well-received seems to be that of those who suggest fixing the standards by using parameters of epistemic justification. This paper argues that this enterprise is unfeasible, making explicit the reasons for this unfeasibility. In any case, a revaluation of these proposals is suggested even if with a more circumscribed utility.La formulación legislativa estándares objetivos de suficiencia probatoria que guíen las decisiones judiciales es uno de los mayores anhelos en el marco de la epistemología jurídica. De entre las propuestas que más optimismo parece haber generado se encuentra la de quienes abogan por fórmulas fijadas recurriendo a parámetros propios de la justificación epistémica. Esto permitiría compatibilizar la presencia de estándares legislativos con sistemas de valoración de prueba libre. En este texto se argumenta que esa empresa es inviable, y se hacen explícitas las razones por las cuales ello es así. De todos modos, se sugiere una revalorización de esas propuestas aun si con una utilidad más circunscripta.
