| dc.description | Después del fracaso inicial de la televisión digital terrestre (TVDT) en el mundo, especialmente en EE.UU., el súbito despegue de esta tecnología en Europa a partir de 2003 sugiere que ahora sí podría ser factible en Chile y Latinoamérica. Este artículo aborda los principales aspectos de política pública enfrentados por Chile, uno de los países más dinámicos de la región, que había publicado una propuesta sobre el tema en 2000. Este texto evalúa el estado actual de la TVDT y propone un Grupo de Acción Digital que coordine la discusión sobre el sistema que deberá adoptar Chile. La principal preocupación es mantener un debate abierto, comprensible y comercialmente neutro, en pro del interés público y de la satisfacción de los telespectadores. | es-ES |
| dc.description | After the initial failure of digital terrestrial television (DTTV) across the world, most notoriously in the USA, the sudden revival of this technology in Europe after 2003 suggests it may be feasible now, including in Latin America. This article addresses the main policy concerns faced in Chile, one of the most dynamic countries of the region, which published a White Paper in 2000. The text assesses the current state of DTTV and then suggests measures within a five-year plan. The main concern is the need to maintain an open, comprehensible, commercially neutral discussion, on behalf of the public interest and the satisfaction of viewers. | en-US |
