The contexts of severe economic recession usually change the structure of the political window of opportunity of party systems. In Europe, the Great Recession, what mean facing economic difficulties, applying austerity policies, and deal with the resulting social repercussions, has brought about the transformation of party systems. This work is aimed at descriptively analyzing the degree to which party systems are changing in the period of the Great Recession, paying attention to different components of volatility to define towards what type of political parties the vote is moving and to what extent the stability of the party systems in Ireland, Portugal and Spain is threatened. The main conclusions point out that while party systems have been destabilized especially in Spain and to a lesser extent in Ireland, this trend is not observed in Portugal, where there is surprising stability in the party system.Los contextos de grave recesión económica habitualmente cambian la estructura de la ventana de oportunidad política de los sistemas de partidos. En Europa, la Gran Recesión, afrontar las dificultades económicas, aplicar las políticas de austeridad, y las repercusiones sociales que se derivan, ha traído consigo la trasformación de los sistemas de partidos. Este trabajo se orienta a analizar de manera descriptiva el grado en el que los sistemas de partidos están cambiando en el periodo de la Gran Recesión, prestando atención a diferentes componentes de la volatilidad para definir hacía qué tipo de partidos políticos se está desplazando el voto y de esta manera saber hasta qué punto está amenazada la estabilidad de los sistemas de partidos en Irlanda, Portugal y España. Las principales conclusiones apuntan que mientras que los sistemas de partidos se han desestabilizado especialmente en España y en menor medida en Irlanda, esta tendencia no se observa en Portugal, donde se observa una estabilidad sorprendente en el sistema de partidos.
