| dc.description | El objetivo del presente texto es analizar la actitud política del gobierno venezolano de la época a la luz del asilo diplomático frustrado de la militante de la izquierda uruguaya Elena Quinteros Almeida, en el marco de la dictadura en Uruguay a mediados de la década del setenta. Nos proponemos demostrar que la política exterior del gobierno venezolano y su reafirmación de los principios sobre el Derecho de Asilo frente al caso mencionado fue oscilante y tuvo un carácter pragmático e instrumental, para legitimar su posición internacional y su política interna. | dc.description | The objective of this text is to analyze the political attitude of the Venezuelan government at the time in light of the frustrated diplomatic asylum of the Uruguayan leftist militant Elena Quinteros Almeida, within the framework of the dictatorship in Uruguay in the mid-1970s. We propose to demonstrate that the foreign policy of the Venezuelan government and its reaffirmation of the principles on the Right of Asylum in the aforementioned case was oscillating and had a pragmatic and instrumental nature, to legitimize its international position and its internal policy.
