This article presents the results of an investigation on what type of citizenship and citizen participation are configured by the relationships that adolescents maintain in virtual social networks. For the construction and interpretation of the data, a mixed methodology and a hermeneutic and feminist epistemology have been used. In addition to verifying the “online” dimension in which adolescents live, this study’s findings include a tension between what characterizes the construction of a sense of the common and subjective-relational and what characterizes their political participation and community building.El trabajo presenta los resultados de una investigación sobre qué tipo de ciudadanía y de participación ciudadana se configuran a partir de las relaciones que las y los adolescentes mantienen en las redes sociales virtuales. Para la construcción e interpretación de los datos se ha empleado una metodología mixta y una epistemología hermenéutica y feminista. Junto con comprobar la dimensión ‘OnLife’ en la que habitan las y los adolescentes, entre los hallazgos de este estudio se destaca una tensión entre lo que caracteriza la construcción de un sentido de lo común y subjetivo-relacional, y lo que caracteriza su participación política y construcción de comunidad.
