dc.description	The Chilean State has developed housing programs designed to provide housing for low-income sectors in rural areas. Although these solutions mean improvements in living conditions of Indigenous families, there are still areas for improvement. One of these aspects refers to the coherence between dwelling designs and identity characteristics of the users. The article analyzes the response of the State through its housing policies to the needs of the Pewenche people, their culture and way of life which are understood as tangible and intangible heritage. The study focuses on the mountain territories of Alto Biobío, in the homonymous region, where the Pewenche population lives. The methodology included interviews, field visits and review of primary and secondary sources. The results confirm that the housing policy has provided better technological standards and thus a higher quality of life for families who generally live in conditions of material vulnerability. However, from the perception of the communities it is evident that, while there are families prone to incorporate other ways of life, a significant number want to preserve their culture which they consider threatened by the imposition of exogenous ways of life.	en-US
dc.description	El Estado chileno ha desarrollado programas habitacionales destinados a dotar de viviendas a sectores de bajos ingresos en zonas rurales. Si bien estas soluciones constituyen un avance en las condiciones de vida de las familias, persisten aspectos por mejorar. Uno de estos se refiere a la coherencia entre los diseños de las viviendas y las características identitarias de los usuarios. El presente trabajo analiza la respuesta del Estado, a través de sus políticas habitacionales, a las necesidades del habitar del pueblo Mapuche-Pewenche, así como su cultura y forma de vida, entendidos estos como patrimonio material e inmaterial. El estudio se centra en los territorios cordilleranos de la comuna de Alto Biobío, ubicada en la región homónima, donde se encuentran asentadas las comunidades pewenches. La metodología utilizada involucra entrevistas a informantes claves, visitas a terreno y consultas a fuentes primarias y secundarias. Los resultados confirman que la política habitacional ha aportado mejores estándares tecnológicos y, con ello, mayor calidad de vida a las familias, que, en general, viven en condiciones de vulnerabilidad material. Sin embargo, a partir de la percepción de las comunidades, se evidencia que, aún cuando existen familias proclives a incorporar formas de vida ajenas, un número importante desea preservar su cultura, la que consideran amenazada por la imposición de formas de vida exógenas.	es-ES
