The election of Salvador Allende as President of Chile meant again that Masonry had one of their members occupying the Presidency. In this context, and especially due to the tragic result of the government of Allende, there is a question about how the real political and ideological impact was on the Orden of Masons especially towards the 11th of September of 1973 and the struggle that the country experienced during that historical period. In order to examine this topic, we will look at the presidential election of 1970 and the coup d’Etat of 1973, as seen through sources such as the magazines Revistas Masónica y Occidente.La elección de Salvador Allende como Presidente de Chile, significó una vez más que la Masonería tuviera a uno de sus hermanos en la primera magistratura del país. En ese contexto, y especialmente por el trágico desenlace que tuvo el gobierno del Masón Salvador Allende, surge la interrogante de cómo afectó a la Orden Masónica la lucha política e ideológica que vivió el país durante aquel período histórico, especialmente hacia el 11 de septiembre de 1973.
