| dc.description | We argue that environmental impacts of Chile's natural resources got reflected in an authoritarian political system that privileged order over liberty, justifying a political reality characterized through the search of "natural orders", based on the general social conditions in place at the beginning of the 19th century. Therefore, Chile was portrayed as the "happy copy of heaven", and, in political realm, framed by discourses such as "the asylum against oppression"; even though that meant putting in power an authoritarian regime. Unlike situations in other Latin American country, stability and order was maintained, serving as the basis to promise a "magnificent future".

| dc.description | Sostenemos que el impacto de la realidad natural de Chile en su organización institucional se materializó en un régimen autoritario que privilegió el orden por sobre la libertad, justificando así una realidad política que se hizo derivar del "orden natural" en el que, se argumentó a comienzos del siglo XIX, se desenvolvía Chile como sociedad. De este modo, si Chile en tanto espacio geográfico era la "copia feliz del Edén", su organización institucional no podía ser nada menos que "el asilo contra la opresión", aunque eso significara imponer un régimen autoritario que, manteniendo la estabilidad y el orden, no solo nos distinguiera de los demás estados latinoamericanos; además, sirviera como instrumento para alcanzar el prometido "futuro esplendor". | es-ES |
