dc.description	As part of a wider research about evolutive cultural landscape in the Mexicali Valley (Baja California, Mexico), a survey was conducted by means of identifying the main myths in that rural area, the topics they deal with, as well as the location of the events they narrate. Information collected was processed through the use of geographical information systems (GIS) in order to obtain a thematic cartography of those myths which allows the visualization of areas of greater density (where there is a greater concentration of myths). The principal findings refer the absence of indigenous myths, the dominance of myths about ghosts, as well as the strong presence of sociological myths with pedagogical function, which guide spatial practices of the valley inhabitants	en-US
dc.description	Como parte de una investigación más amplia sobre el paisaje cultural evolutivo del valle de Mexicali, Baja California, México, a partir de una encuesta se identificaron los principales mitos que están vigentes en esa zona rural, los temas que abordan y la localización de los hechos que narran. Mediante el uso de sistemas de información geográfica (SIG), la información se procesó para elaborar una cartografía temática de tales mitos, que hace posible visualizar las zonas de mayor densidad (donde hay más concentración de mitos). Los principales hallazgos refieren la ausencia de mitos relacionados con el grupo indígena que habitaba originalmente el valle, la preeminencia de mitos acerca de "aparecidos" (fantasmas), así como el predominio de mitos sociológicos con función pedagógica, que orientan las prácticas espaciales de los habitantes del valle	es-ES
