| dc.description | This article analyses the constitutional crisis that was triggered in Chile by the events of 18 October 2019. The purpose is to explain the link between the constitution and social unrest and to explore whether a constituent process, such as the one designed in Chile, has the potential to address the unrest that produced it. The failed experience of Bachelet’s constituent process and the Latin American reform processes of the last thirty years show the threats and challenges of the future Chilean constitution. | en-US |

El propósito es explicar el vínculo que existe entre la constitución y el malestar social que gatilló la crisis y explorar si un proceso constituyente, como el que se ha diseñado en Chile, tiene el potencial para superarla. Esto último se hace a partir de la fallida experiencia del proceso constituyente de Bachelet y de los procesos reformistas latinoamericanos de los últimos treinta años, los que sirven para ilustrar las amenazas y los desafíos del futuro constituyente chileno. | es-ES |
