dc.descriptionAegorhinus nodipennis (Curculionidae) is a native species of Argentina and Chile Patagonia mainland. It is considered an important fruit and vegetable pest in orchards of Chile. In this note, we describe the detection and the observed damages in forest plantations and orchards of two ranch houses of Argentinean Tierra del Fuego (Sara Ranch and Viamonte Ranch). Those damages conducted to the mortality of exotic soft wood, old trees (mainly birch, rowan and willow) since 2017 to the present, which had ornamental and landscape value, as well as forest curtains. We discuss the invasive and affectation potential in the regional native ecosystems, and the need to improve studies about their behaviour in this region, and the importance of monitoring and control for the preservation of native vegetation, as well as those of the ranch houses of historic and cultural value for fuegian population.en-US
dc.descriptionAegorhinus nodipennis (Curculionidae) es una especie nativa de la Patagonia continental de Argentina y Chile, considerada plaga de importancia en cultivos frutihortícolas de Chile. En esta nota se describe su detección y los daños generados en forestaciones y huertas de cascos de estancias de Tierra del Fuego argentina (Ea. Sara y Ea. Viamonte), causando la mortalidad de añosos árboles exóticos de madera blanda (principalmente abedules, sauces y serbales), de valor ornamental paisajístico o en cortinas forestales, desde el año 2017 hasta el presente. Se discute el potencial de invasión y afectación de los ecosistemas nativos de la región, así como de profundizar los estudios sobre su comportamiento en esta región, y la importancia de realizar monitoreos y control para la preservación de la vegetación nativa y la de cascos de estancias, de importancia histórica y cultural para la población fueguina.es-ES
