| dc.description | Mediante el presente trabajo intentamos iluminar la motivación de un fraseologismo empleado coloquialmente en Chile: hacer perro muerto ‘escabullirse de un establecimiento de refacción sin pagar el consumo’. Para ello se examinan antecedentes lexicográficos americanos e hispánicos, y se recurre a la consulta de un corpus diacrónico de la lengua. Se concluye que la frase guarda paralelismo con amarrar un perro ‘no pagar una deuda’, registrada en Costa Rica y Andalucía. Ambos fraseologismos (hacer perro muerto y amarrar un perro) denotan acciones que defraudan una hospitalidad o confianza, y en ambos se halla una motivación similar: son formas de perjudicar o neutralizar al animal guardián ajeno. | es-ES |
| dc.description | By means of this article we try to illuminate the motivation of a phraseologism used colloquially in Chile: hacer perro muerto ‘sneak out of a restaurant without paying for consumption’. In order to attain this, American and Hispanic lexicographic data are examined, and a diachronic corpus of our language is consulted. It is concluded that the phrase parallels with amarrar un perro ‘to pay not a debt’, registered in Costa Rica and Andalusia. Both phraseologisms (hacer perro muerto and amarrar un perro) denote actions that deceive hospitality or trust, and a similar motivation is found in both: they are literally ways of harming or neutralizing someone’s else guardian animal. | en-US |
