This paper aims at examining the national standards on access to environmental information and their compatibility with international standards enshrined in the Escazú Agreement. According with our understanding, even though there has been some progress in the national legal system, the national standards should be updated in the light of the recent developments incorporated into the Escazú Agreement. This analysis considers both the positive legal system and the judicial interpretation coming from the Constitutional Court and the Supreme Court.Este artículo examina los estándares nacionales sobre el acceso a la información ambiental y su compatibilidad con aquellos provenientes del Acuerdo de Escazú. Nuestra visión entiende que, a pesar de los avances realizados en el orden jurídico nacional, estos estándares deben ser actualizados a la luz de los desarrollos recientes reflejados en el Acuerdo de Escazú. El análisis involucra no solamente el orden jurídico positivo, sino también la interpretación que han realizado tanto el Tribunal Constitucional como la Corte Suprema
