This article seeks to open a dialogue on the issue of child, early and forced marriage and unions in Latin America and the Caribbean by analysing the findings of two research studies undertaken specifically in Guatemala. These studies are complementary and address the violation of the rights of adolescent girls from the onset of the unionpregnancy vis-à-vis the analysis of the social construction of hegemonic masculinities and their linkages with child marriages and unions, aimed at identifying possible transformations of the unequal power relations that sustain this harmful practice, as well as providing potential strategies for the agenda on engaging men and boys in gender equalityEl presente artículo busca abrir el diálogo, a partir del contexto latinoamericano y caribeño de la problemática de los matrimonios infantiles, las uniones tempranas y forzadas, analizando los hallazgos de dos investigaciones desarrolladas específicamente en Guatemala. Estos estudios son complementarios y abordan la vulneración de derechos en las niñas y adolescentes desde la condición de unión-embarazo, el análisis de la construcción social de las masculinidades hegemónicas y su vinculación con los matrimonios infantiles, las uniones tempranas y forzadas, para identificar transformaciones posibles de las relaciones desiguales de poder que sustentan esta práctica nociva con el propósito de aportar estrategias viables en la agenda de trabajo involucrando a hombres y niños en la igualdad de género.
