| dc.description | In a previous work (Larrain, 1973-b), we have analyzed in extenso the demographic aspects and places of settlement of the fishing groups of the northern coasts of Chile, known as "changos", during the course of the 16th century. In it, some points of the Peruvian south coast were touched briefly, to which some encomienda provisions of the year 1540 allude; a particular emphasis was given to the references related to the Chilean north coast. This preference came only from the almost total lack of references to the southern Peruvian area at that time. In this work, we intend to analyze the contribution of Vásquez de Espinoza in this matter, studying in detail his valuable testirnonio, of such significance for the current Peruvian south, in his great work: "Compendio y Descripción de las Indias Occidentales", originally published in 1672. | en-US |
| dc.description | En un trabajo anterior (Larrain, 1973-b), hemos analizado in extenso los aspectos demográficos y lugares de asentamiento de los grupos pescadores de las costas del norte de Chile, conocidos como "changos", durante el decurso del siglo XVI. En él se tocaron someramente algunos puntos de la costa sur peruana, a la que aluden algunas provisiones de encomiendas del año 1540; un énfasis particular se dio a las referencias relativas a la costa norte chilena. Esta preferencia provino tan solo de la penuria casi total de referencias acerca del área peruana meridional, por esas fechas. En este trabajo, pretendemos analizar el aporte de Vásquez de Espinoza en esta materia, estudiando minuciosamente su valioso testirnonio, de tanta significación para el sur peruano actual, en su magna obra: "Compendio y Descripción de las Indias Occidentales", publicada originalmente en 1672. | es-ES |
