dc.description	Cartography, which traditionally understood to be a means of representing the phenomena of the earth's surface, is considered today to be an information system defined not by its content but by its particular means of expression: space -time -mode -dimension. Incorporated with the theory of information, cartography takes a new viewpoint: Cartography, Cartography science.   Within this new Science, Thematic Cartography offers the greatest possibilities of study in terms of spatial information system and cartographic symbology.	en-US
dc.description	La Cartografía, que tradicionalmente se entendió sólo como un medio de representar los fenómenos de la superficie terrestre, es considerada hoy día como un sistema de información, definida no por su contenido, sino por sus propias modalidades de expresión: espacio-tiempo-modo-dimensión. Incorporada a la teoría de la Información, la Cartografía se plantea con un nuevo enfoque: La Cartografía o Ciencia Cartográfica. Dentro de esta nueva Ciencia, la Cartografía Temática ofrece las mayores posibilidades de estudio en cuanto a sistema de información espacial y simbología cartográfica.	es-ES
