| dc.description | In the origin and development of chilean geography the subject of practical researchor Applied Geographyis not absent. According with variousconcepts ine/uded about practical researchin this artie/e,the bibliographicalinformation is ordered and analyzed. The purpose is to treat with respect subject-matter,approaches,methods and proposals of different authors. Is waspossible to identify six principal themes of researchbetween 1830 and 1980. These theme, according subject-matter fixed by the authors, are: the geographicalchart, the geologicalchart, regionalstudies, geographical studies for political boundary demarcation, geopolitical studies and Earth Science and Natural Resources. The information ordered in a systematic way shows and tests the development ofpractical research in Chile. Some of the activities are pioneers in the generation of geographical knowledge about Chile. All the contribution included in these artic1es are replies governmental request. On this period it is significant the evolution of the approaches used by researchers, they used corographic, corological and analytical approximation. In respect to the methods uses on the period, areal and thematic procedures are detected. | en-US |
| dc.description | En la formación y desarrollo de la geografía chilena no están ausenteslos temasde investigaciónpráctica que comúnmente se entienden como Geografía Aplicada. Asumiendo los varios conceptos implícitos bajo la denominación de investigación práctica se rescata la información bibliográfica de obras y artículos clasificados como "Geografía", cuyos autores expresan propósitos utilitarios. Considerando los enfoques, objetivos, métodos y contenidos,fUeposible identificarseisampliaslíneasde investigación entre 1830 y 1980. Los temas delimitados, de acuerdo a la preferencia de sus autores, son las cartas geográficas y geológicas, los estudios regionales,los estudios geográficospara la demarcación limítrofe, los estudios geopolíticos y temas de la Ciencia de la Tierra y Recursos Naturales. La sistematización de la información corrobora que en el período estUdiado se desarrolla esta línea de investigación práctica en Geografía. Varias de las actividades analizadas resultan ser pioneras en la generación del conocimiento geográfico chileno. Todas las contribuciones incluidas en la indagación son respuestas a demandas de la administración del Gobierno y de departamentos de la administración civil y militar del Estado. Resulta significativa la evolución del enfoque con que se aborda el objeto de estUdiQ. Tres etapas son identificadas: corográfica, corológica y analítica. Respecto de los procedimientos utilizadosparalasinvestigacionesse, observananálisisarealesy temáticos. Es posible que en cada una de las líneas de investigación práctica se constaten matices dignos de ser estudiados a futuro. | es-ES |
