Conform to the proposed plan, in this Serie, we introduce Colonel José Rodriguez de Ballesteros, according to this persona lity and action. He is a spaniord militar, author of the "Revista a la Revolución de Chile", a forgotten book that in spite of its tirle, has included an interesting geographical repon whose datUms and details, specioly on Chiloé archipelago deserv to have in mind by the research people. This work was drawed up during the fust half of the XIX century, and is the first attempt to work out a physical-Political Chilean Geography, according to the european scientific postulates.De acuerdo con el plan que nos hemos propuesto en esta Serie, presentamos en esta ocasión la personalidad y la obra del Coronel José Rodriguez de Ballesteros, militar espaflol autor de la Revista a la Revolución de Chile, olvidado libro que, pese a su título, incluye una interesante parte geográfica cuyos datos y detalles, sobre todo relativos al archipiélago de Chiloé, merecen ser tenidos en cuenta por los investigadores. Este trabajo redactado en la primera mitad del siglo XIX trata del primer intento de elaborar una Geografía Físico.Política chilena, según los postulados científicos europeos.
