Global change and the greenhouse effect are a worldwide problem that affects not only the existence of life on the planet, but also profound changes in the natural landscape. Climate change translates into meteorological events that are characterized by their violence and sudden change. Studies and observations made in the XI Region of Aysén, Chile, the southernmost area of the planet, lead to considerations about future risks that will affect this territory in the coming decades, among others, the melting of snowdrift tongues, increased river torrential rainfall, high erosion and sedimentation activity in watersheds and high vulnerability in communication systems and habitability of the Region.El cambio global y el efecto invernadero son un problema mundial que afecta no sólo la existencia de la vida en el planeta, sino también en profundos cambios en el paisaje natural. El cambio climático se traduce en eventos meteorológicos que se caracterizan por su violencia y repentino cambio. Los estudios y observaciones realizados en la XI Región de Aysén, Chile, la zona más austral del planeta, llevan a consideraciones sobre futuros riesgos que afectarán este territorio en las próximas décadas, entre otras, la fusión de lenguas de ventisqueros, el aumento de la torrencialidad fluvial, gran actividad de erosión y sedimentación en las cuencas hidrográficas y de alta vulnerabilidad en los sistemas de comunicación y habitabilidad de la Región.
