In order to identify and delimit the Ratzel’s thought in the Chilean Geography, the contribution explores in various dimensions of Chilean intellectual activities. For the case are included different notions coming from geographer and civil engineers, those of history and geography pedagogues, those of the lawyers, and those of the university professors in Geography. In each case are detected fingerprints of the Ratzel’s thought on political geography, singly their ideas on naturael determinism and on social determinism or posibilism, whitout excluding caused that it made to evolve geography from the field of social science, coming from natural sciences, interested and to be occupied on the study of the spatial relationship between human beigns and the nature in the planet surfaceCon el propósito de identificar y delimitar el pensamiento de Ratzel en la geografía chilena, la contribución explora en diversas dimensiones de las actividades intelectuales chilena. Para el caso se incluyen las nociones de ingenieros geógrafos y civiles, las de los pedagogos en historia y geografía, las de los licenciados en ciencias jurídicas, y las de los catedráticos en geografía. En cada caso de estudio se detectan huellas del pensamiento geográfico-político de Ratzel, singularmente sus ideas de determinismo natural y de determinismo social, sin excluir el hecho que él hizo evolucionar la geografía hacia el campo de las ciencias sociales al ocuparse preferentemente del estudio de las relaciones espaciales entre los seres humanos y la naturaleza en la superficie del planeta.
