| dc.description | Surface hydrological responses to hydroelectric and agricultural use, are evaluated of the Laja river basin (Chile) and the associated lake Laja. A drop of 27 m is observed in the lake water level with respect to normal hydrologic regime, for the 1972 to 1999 period; it correlates directly with hydroelectric power production (r2 = 0,78). In addition, the drainage network of the upper river basin has been modified completely. The impact of this use on the hydrologic balance of the Andean sector is weak (-3,7% of total precipitations), due to lack of consumption. In the lower basin, water consumption for irrigation corresponds to an annual average of 22,8% of the Laja river volume, resulting in a negative hydrological balance equivalent to 36,8%, of the total annual rainfall. | en-US |
| dc.description | Se evalúan las respuestas hidrológicas superficiales de la cuenca del río Laja (Chile) y del cuerpo lacustre asociado (lago Laja), frente a los usos eléctrico y agrícola. Se constata una disminución promedio de 27 m de la cota del lago con respecto a su régimen natural, para el periodo 972-99, relacionada directamente con la producción hidroeléctrica (r2 = 0,78), a lo que se agrega una completa modificación de la red de drenaje en el sector andino. El impacto de este uso en el balance hidrológico de esta área es débil (-3,7% del total de precipitaciones), debido a su carácter no consuntivo. En la sección baja de la cuenca, el uso consuntivo del agua asociado al riego agrícola, extrae un promedio anual de 22,8% de los caudales del río Laja, generando una discrepancia negativa en el balance hidrológico equivalente al 36,8% del total de las precipitaciones anuales. | es-ES |
