In this work the spatial organization of commercial activity in Greater Santiago is the focus of study, itself a product of the disaggregation of the traditional monocentric model. In particular the article explores the configuration of the emerging polycentric model and the factors that are forming it. Its spatial structure is governed by the distance to the centre of traditional businesses (CBD), by the spatial distribution of rent and population, by accessibility and by the form of the transport network. Commercial and service centres are nodes of centrality that configure the patterns of urban mobility. They confer a particular physiognomy to the urban scene and constitute privileged places for social relations. En este trabajo se estudia la organización espacial de la actividad comercial del Gran Santiago, producto de la disgregación del modelo monocéntrico tradicional. En especial se explora la configuración del emergente modelo policéntrico y los factores que lo conforman. Su estructura espacial está gobernada por la distancia al centro de negocios tradicional (CBD), por la distribución espacial de la población y de la renta, por la accesibilidad y por la forma de la red viaria. Los centros de comercio y servicios son nodos de centralidad que configuran los patrones de movilidad urbana, que confieren una fisonomía peculiar a la escena urbana y constituyen lugares privilegiados para la relación social.
