In Chile, as almost everywhere else in the world, the rural population continues to decline. However, the last two national censuses show that in some regions of our country, the rural space is not exempt from a certain demographic dynamism and that this dynamism often goes hand in hand with a dynamism in activities. The article analyzes the situation of a group of communes belonging to these regions, which illustrate the strengths and weaknesses of a rural world marked with the stamp of diversity.En Chile, como en casi todo el mundo, la población rural sigue disminuyendo. Sin embargo, los dos últimos censos nacionales muestran que en algunas regiones de nuestro país el espacio rural no está exento de cierto dinamismo demográfico y que a menudo este último va de par con un dinamismo en las actividades. El artículo analiza la situación de un grupo de comunas, pertenecientes a esas regiones, que ilustran los puntos fuertes y también los puntos débiles de un mundo rural marcado con el sello de la diversidad.
