dc.description	This research intends to identify both inexpensive and durable construction materials. Steel, glass and polymer fibers are feasible, expensive alternatives.Natural fibers can be a real possibility for developing countries, due to the fact that these kinds of fibers are available in great quantities, while they arealso renewable. Natural fiber affected mainly by the alkalinity of the cementitiuos matrix in the concrete. The durability of the composite will depend onthe protection which the fiber has, and on the impermeability features of the cementitiuos matrix.	en-US
dc.description	Esta investigación pretende encontrar materiales de construcción que sean económicos y durables. Las fibras de acero, vidrio y poliméricas, son alternativas viables pero costosas. Las fibras naturales pueden ser una posibilidad real para los países en desarrollo, ya que están disponibles en grandes cantidades y representan una fuente renovable continua. La fibra natural es afectada principalmente por la alcalinidad de la matriz cementante del concreto. La durabilidad del compuesto dependerá entonces de la protección que tenga la fibra y de las características de impermeabilidad propias de la matriz cementante.	es-ES
