dc.description	Esophageal stricture is one of the most serious complications of caustic ingestion in children, and may occasionally recur or be refractory to management with repeated dilations.Objective: To present a case of the use of a silicone-coated metallic stent in a child with recurrent esophageal stricture secondary to caustic ingestion.Clinical Case: A 6-year-old boy with accidental caustic ingestion, with evidence of Zargar grade IIIA esophagitis in all three portions of the esophagus and a 3 cm prepyloric gastric ulcer that received initial treatment with antibiotics and corticosteroids. After 21 days, the esophageal lumen diminished in relation to the healing process, which required serial dilations. Later, he developed a punctal stenosis, so it was decided to place two silicon-coated metallic esophageal stents, which were kept for 4 months, without new stenosis episodes.Conclusions: The silicone-coated metallic stent is an alternative for the treatment of recurrent esophageal stricture due to caustic ingestion in children.	en-US
dc.description	La estenosis esofágica es una de las complicaciones más graves de la ingestión de cáusticos en niños, pudiendo ocasionalmente recurrir o ser refractaria al manejo con dilataciones repetidas.Objetivo: Presentar un caso de la utilización de stent metálico cubierto con silicona en un niño con estenosis esofágica recurrente secundaria a la ingestión por cáusticos.Caso Clínico: Niño de 6 años con ingestión accidental de cáustico, con evidencia de esofagitis Zargar 3A en las tres porciones del esófago y una úlcera gástrica prepilórica de 3 cm que recibió tratamiento inicial con antibiótico y esteroides. A los 21 días cursa con disminución de la luz esofágica en relación con proceso cicatricial, la cual requirió dilataciones seriadas. Posteriormente desarrolló una estenosis puntiforme, por lo que se decidió la inserción de dos stent esofágicos metálicos recubiertos con silicona, los cuales se mantuvieron por 4 meses, sin nuevos episodios de estenosis.Conclusiones: El stent metálico con cubierta de silicona es una alternativa para el tratamiento de estenosis esofágica recurrente por cáusticos en niños.	es-ES
