dc.description	The performance relationships developed by the World Bank, mainly those in the HDM-III and HDM-4 models, must be adapted by adjusting certain calibration factors in order to use them in the pavement management system of a country or region. This work presents the results obtained from calibrating the structural cracking models using HDM-4, as well as a comparison with the results obtained from equivalent HDM-III models. This work involved the use of the "windows" methodology, which consists of selecting roads that present similar characteristics (such as traffic, structural capacity and climate) but with different ages, in order to record the distress conditions of each one and in this way to reconstruct the curve of distress. Based on the results of this research, recommendations have been developed for calibrating the performance models, as well as establishing calibration factors for asphalt pavement structural cracking models which are more appropriate for Chilean roads. The results of the comparison of the HDM-III and HDM-4 calibrated models indicate that both yield similar values. Therefore, the HDM-4 cracking models are recommended, due to their operational advantages.	en-US
dc.description	Las relaciones de comportamiento desarrolladas por el Banco Mundial, principalmente las pertenecientes a los modelos HDM-III y HDM-4, deben adaptarse, mediante el ajuste de ciertos factores de calibración, para poder utilizarlas en la gestión de pavimentos de un país o región. Este trabajo presenta los resultados obtenidos en la calibración de los modelos de agrietamiento que contempla HDM-4, y su comparación con los resultados obtenidos de los modelos equivalentes de HDM-III. Para ello utilizamos la metodología de “ventanas”, que consiste en seleccionar una serie de tramos que presenten similares características (tales como tránsito, capacidad estructural y clima) pero diferentes edades, con el fin de registrar la condición de deterioro de cada uno y de esta forma reconstruir la curva de deterioro. A partir de los resultados obtenidos en este trabajo, proponemos recomendaciones para calibrar los modelos de comportamiento y establecemos factores de calibración para los modelos de agrietamiento estructural de pavimentos asfálticos más adecuados a las características propias de los caminos en Chile. Al comparar los resultados de los modelos calibrados de HDM-III y HDM-4, concluimos que ambos casos entregan valores similares y recomendamos el uso de los modelos de agrietamiento de HDM-4 por sus ventajas de operación.	es-ES
