| dc.description | I present the results of a compilation of the most relevant historical facts that determined the evolution and form of the Gregorian calendar since its earliest recorded origin. This compendium, in the form of a brief chronological annotated history, gathers in one place all the answers to the most frequently asked questions about the characteristics and peculiarities of the modern calendar, including the origin of the names, the order and length of the months, and the presence of years with different lengths. It also disproves some falsehoods on the subject. This article responds to the need to gather in a single orderly writing all the relevant factors on the subject that are usually explained in a scattered, partial or disjointed way in separate sources. This article is proposed as a verified source on the subject and can be used as support material in the classroom or for dissemination. Many of the sources consulted are electronic, but everything obtained was contrasted with several verified bibliographic sources on the subject of calendars. This compendium highlights how the human effort to keep the length of the calendar year synchronized with the passing of the seasons was affected in the western world not because of technical or knowledge limitations, but because of external factors that were imposed over the concrete objective of a calendar. | en-US |
| dc.description | Se presentan los resultados de una compilación de los hechos históricos más relevantes, que determinaron la evolución y forma del calendario gregoriano desde su origen más temprano registrado. Este compendio en forma de historia breve comentada cronológica, reúne en un solo lugar todas las respuestas a las preguntas más frecuentes sobre las características y peculiaridades del calendario moderno, incluyendo el origen de los nombres, el orden y duración de los meses, y la presencia de años con diferente duración. También desmiente algunas falsedades respecto al tema. Este artículo responde a la necesidad de reunir en un solo escrito ordenado todos los factores relevantes del tema y que usualmente se explican de forma dispersa, parcial o disconexa en fuentes separadas. Este artículo se propone como fuente verificada sobre el tema y puede ser usado como material de apoyo en el aula o para divulgación. Muchas de las fuentes consultadas son electrónicas, pero todo lo obtenido fue contrastado con varias fuentes bibliográficas verificadas en el tema de calendarios. Este compendio resalta como el esfuerzo del ser humano por mantener la duración del año calendario sincronizada con el paso de las estaciones, se vio afectado en el mundo occidental en buena medida no por limitaciones técnicas o de conocimiento, sino por factores ajenos que se impusieron por encima del objetivo concreto de un calendario. | es-ES |
