| dc.description | Due to his famous Discurso a la Patria Joven that he held during the presidential election of Chile in 1964 as well as on the occasionof his inaugural, Eduardo Frei Montalva offers a well defined image of the Chilean nation: He aims at winning the adhesion of the peopleto his idea of an economic, social, and ethic renewal of the nation. In the following we will propose a textlinguistic analysis of this jewelof political rhetoric pointing to the subtle semiotic elaboration of Frei's address conceived of as an instrument of the formation of thenation. Our analysis focuses on the different moments that may be discerned within the process of creating a political identity and itsrhetorical elaboration and propagation through the media. The strong moralising tendency of this address aims at demanding societalsolidarity and active participation in the formation of the nation as the democratic duty of each individual. | en-US |
| dc.description | Con su famoso Discurso de la Patria Joven, que pronunció en el contexto de las elecciones presidenciales chilenas de 1964 y que reformuló en su discurso inaugural, Eduardo Frei Montalva propone una determinada imagen de la nación chilena, intentando ganar con ella la adhesión del pueblo a su concepción de una regeneración económica, social y ética del Estado. Ofrecemos a continuación un análisis de lingüística textual de esta joya de retórica política evidenciando la sutil elaboración semiótica del discurso de Frei concebido como instrumento natiopoiético. Nuestro análisis enfoca los momentos que se pueden distinguir en el proceso de la creación de una identidad política y la mediación retórica de ésta. La fuerte tendencia moralizante del discurso mira sobre todo a reclamar como deber democrático de cada individuo la solidaridad social y la participación activa en la estructuración del Estado. | es-ES |
