dc.description	Delinquent, vagrant, and idle, were adjectives used by the Spanish colonial administration in Cuba during the 19th century to describe the population that was not adjusted to the imposed rules; the General Captains’ attention was focused on them. This article discusses the regulations introduced during the Government of Miguel Tacón to suppress crime and vagrancy. Taking into account the characterization of the subject defined as delinquent, we will demonstrate that its control,besides ensuring order, served as a mechanism of regulating the mobility of the population and the needs of labour force.	en-US
dc.description	Delincuentes, vagos y ociosos fueron calificativos empleados por la administración colonial española en Cuba durante el siglo XIX para definir a la población que no se ajustó a las normas impuestas; sobre ellos se centró la atención de los capitanes generales. En el artículo se analizan las disposiciones introducidas durante el gobierno de Miguel Tacón para reprimir la criminalidad y la vagancia. Teniendo en cuenta la caracterización del sujeto definido como delincuente, demostraremos que su control, además de asegurar el orden, fue un mecanismo para regular la movilidad de la población y las necesidades de fuerza de trabajo.	es-ES
