We tried to understand the process of formation of a new working class in north-eastern Chubut, central region of the argentinean Patagonia, from the imposition of an industrialization project subsidized by the state, covering the period 1956-1989. In this process was important the contribution made by workers from the neighbouring country of Chile, who incorporated their experience and traditions of struggle and organization in that construction. In the region was formed a textile industrial park, primary aluminium factory and fish processing plants, aiming the state power, consolidate the exercise of national sovereignty over under populated territories. It thus sought to build a working class who shared the “national” objectives and were not “politicized”. Chilean-born workers were part of the resistance to this state project.Pretendemos conocer el proceso de conformación de una nueva clase obrera en el noreste de Chubut, región central de la Patagonia argentina, a partir de la imposición de un proyecto de industrialización subsidiada por el Estado, abarcando el período 1956-1989. En ese proceso fue clave el aporte realizado por obreros provenientes de Chile, quienes incorporaron su experiencia y sus tradiciones de lucha y organización a esa dinámica de construcción. En la región se conformó un parque industrial textil, una fábrica de aluminio primario y diversas plantas de procesamiento pesquero, pretendiendo, desde el poder estatal, consolidar el ejercicio de la soberanía nacional sobre territorios poco poblados. Se procuraba construir así una clase obrera que se consustanciara con los objetivos “nacionales” y no estuviese “politizada”. Los obreros de origen chileno fueron parte de la resistencia a ese proyecto estatal.
